Perfect if you are too small for maternity pants February 24, 2010 Mariana Ruiz Garcia (Fl, USA) I got the belly band in dark blue and started wearing it when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I'm currently 19 weeks and loving it!! It allows me to wear my regular jeans for a little longer since I'm not too convinced about getting a bunch of maternity clothes that I will only need for a few months. By the time the weather warms up a bit and my belly will be bigger maybe I'll only need a few maternity dresses instead of maternity jeans which are always pricier. I only have 1 complaint: I used to wear a pants size 6 before getting pregnant and even after I got the smallest size 1, it is still big for me and I need to fold it over my hips because it is way too much fabric for my waist. Of course, I need to confess that it's my first pregnancy and though I'm already getting halfway there, it's a super small belly and I have only gained maybe 8 pounds.
love my belly bands February 11, 2010 R. Greason (Eliot, ME) I purchased one belly band from Baby Be Mine because they were the only belly bands that I could find that come in sizes. I'm sorry, but one size does not fit all. I tried another brand of belly band that a friend gave me, and it was much to big for me. After having my Baby Be Mine belly band for a week, I ordered two more. I love them all. They are comfortable, and they allow me to wear my regular pants, unbuttoned. One thing I love about these belly bands over other brands is that they are very long. There's plenty of fabric to tuck well into your pants and then fold down over the entire zipper and still have some coverage over part of the belly and back. Easy wash and dry instructions are also a plus.
Lifesaver!! January 27, 2010 Eurogothic Mama (Des Moines, IA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used another sort of maternity band during my last pregnancy, or should I say didn't use. It fell down, rolled up, didn't hold my pants together well. I almost gave up on the idea after being so disappointed, until I tried the Baby Be Mine Maternity Belly Band! I chose the "Dottilicious" design and love it. It goes with everything and adds a little zing to my wardrobe. Why go ordinary just because you are pregnant? I think it is time to really shine in all my pregnant glory and this band allows me to add the funk in funky to my everyday t-shirt and jeans. I love the light support, without feeling smothered, and the soft give of the material. It is basically cotton with just enough stretch. It holds together my jeans, never falls down or rolls up when I sit down. I don't have to worry about pulling it down constantly to maintain coverage of my growing belly and I am only 10 weeks pregnant! I have tried the hair tie in the button loop, but found that it leaves a bulge where the Belly Band does not. Also, not always can a pregnant woman zip up her jeans to the tip top and the Belly Band conceals this little secret. It smooths jeans, looks and feels great! Love, love, love it! May buy a few more colors, even. Fantastic designs and a major 1st/2nd trimester lifesaver!
Not super stretchy...didn't fit very well. January 16, 2010 Guatemom I purchased this in a size 2 (my pre-pregnancy size is an 8) and It seemed too big.
The problem is that it isn't super stretchy like the similar item that I purchased at Target for a lot less money. It is very wide, so that part was good, but it didn't serve to really hold anything up because of the lack of elasticity.
The belly band was still better than not having anything, but it was the last one that I reached for.
Works for nursing post-pregnancy, too! December 23, 2009 Karen Abraham (Hoboken, NJ United States) I got a set of these in medium for my pregnancy. They were a great help while I was trying to continue wearing my regular clothes, when they were getting small, but maternity clothes were still too big. And then later, they were helpful toward the end of the pregnancy, when a lot of maternity tops were too short and maternity pants were riding down. They helped cover the gap between my pants/skirts and my tops.
But past that, I decided to get another set in small after my baby was born. Once it started getting chilly, I wasn't loving having to lift my shirt to nurse him. Even with my wonderful (Bebe Au Lait) nursing cover, my back and side was getting partially exposed, which was drafty. So, I use the smaller set of bands to cover up my midsection, making it easier to nurse in public without getting chilly or exposing too much.
The bands are a great help if you know you'll be nursing in public (as pretty much every breastfeeding mother does from time to time!), need it to be easy (as we all do!), but would rather use your old tops (and don't want to buy a ton of nursing tops). It's more economical to use your old tops, and get a few belly bands in basic colors, rather than buy a bunch of expensive nursing tops.
If you use your bands during the pregnancy, you'll almost certainly need a smaller size to use them for nursing, since with use they do conform to your (big-belly!) shape during the pregnancy. I tried using my old ones at first, but after I'd worn them for about an hour, they started falling down (which is annoying, and defeats the purpose). Hence I ordered the smaller size set. I will definitely plan on using both sets of bands for my next baby (whenever that happens), as well. I just wish Bebe Au Lait made an extra small size, which would be helpful for more petite women looking to use the bands for nursing purposes.
